If you find this cumbersome to print, facebook me and I'll figure out how to email again...man...I'm lazy....<br /><br /><br />Angel Biscuits<br /><br />1 package yeast (2 1/2 teaspoons)<br />2Tblspn warm water<br />5 cups flour<br />1/4 c sugar<br />2 teaspn baking powder<br />1 teaspn salt<br />1 teaspn baking soda<br />1 cup shortening (butter flavored, preferably)<br />2 cups buttermilk* <br /><br />1. Dissolve yeast in water; let stand 5 minutes<br />2. Cut shortening into dry ingredients<br />3. Add milk and yeast mixture<br />4. Turn onto floured counter or board and knead 2 or 3 times.<br />5. Roll, cut, then dip each into melted butter <br />6. Bake at 450 degrees for 12 minutes<br /><br />Notes:<br />--I like to knead them more like 3-5 times; they seem to puff up better.<br />--Melt about 4 T butter to start with, might take a whole stick.<br /><br />*Buttermilk: 2 T of lemon juice or vinegar , then fill rest of 2 cup measure with milk.
